Milestone Ministry

God knew we’d need reminders to stop and tell the stories—the stories of God and his people, the story of God’s Son, and our own faith stories. First Lutheran Church gives pebbles as reminders to tell the stories…on special occasions…and every day. Milestones bring God’s presence into the home and the rituals of daily life into the congregation. They renew and transform congregations with the mission to “tend the baptismal journey” through all the ages and stages of a life centered in Christ. The Blessing Bowl given to each person who is baptized at First Lutheran Church is meant to be the keeper of the pebbles.
At each milestone, families gather for fellowship and learning, and we celebrate and pray for the children during the 11 a.m. worship service.

August 16: Blessing of the Backpacks PreK-College
September 2: Confirmation Orientation - 6th & 7th Grade Bible Milestone
September 12: First Step entering Sunday School
September 20: Bible - 3rd Grade - Instruction 9/9 & 9/16
October 4: Prayer Pillow - 4 year olds
October 4: Confirmation Retreat - 10th Grade
October 25: Affirmation of Baptism - 10th Grade
November 1: Apostles’ Creed - 4th Grade - Instruction 10/18 & 10/28
December 2: Money Matters - 11th Grade during Youth Group
January 10, 2027: Anniversary of Baptism - All baptized in 2026
February 7: Confession/Forgiveness - 2nd Grade - Instruction 1/31 & 2/3
Feb 24, Mar 3, 10, 17, 25 (Maundy Thursday): 1st Communion - 5th Grade
March 7: Lord’s Prayer - 1st Grade - Instruction 2/28
March 14: Faith Statements Retreat - 9th Grade
April 11: 10 Commandments - Kindergarten - Instruction 4/4 & 4/7
May 2: Senior Recognition Quilts - 12th Grade
May 12: Move-up Celebration - 5th Grade
May 23: Summer Send Off - All ages going to away camp/trips
