Three Classic Interpretations of the Atonement:
In Light of St. Matthew’s Passion Narrative
This four-part series on three classic interpretations of the atoning work of Christ upon the cross was developed to further the conversation based on former USD Law Professor, Jon Van Patten’s, forum on Saturday, April 4, 2020. This forum, “The Trial of Jesus: from an Attorney’s Perspective” can be found here.
The followup series was led by Pastor John Christopherson. Podcasts feature Dr. Steve Paulson and Nick Christopherson.
Spiritual living in a secular world
Pastor John led a series of four conversations based on Henri Nouwen’s modern classic, The Life of the Beloved: Spiritual Living in a Secular World in September and October 2019.
Discussion questions were those foundational to our Christian faith, such as:
Who is God, and what is God’s relationship to us and creation?
Who am I, and where is my identity centered?
How do I ‘find’ meaning and purpose in life?
In what do I finally trust that will free me to live a life of self-giving and joy; one where I am able to take risks no matter what?
