Delaine Shay is a longtime resident of Sioux Falls and a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church’s addiction ministry team. Her recently published memoir, And Then, We Laughed, is a compelling story of loss, perseverance, inspiration, laughter, and healing.
Come join Delaine and the Facing Addiction Team of First Lutheran Church for this special forum on Sunday, June 16, in the Friendship Room, 10:45-11:45 a.m. The forum will include a presentation, Q&A, and book signing. Books will be made available for purchase, and refreshments will be provided.

A team from First Lutheran Church will once again join NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) and walk together to raise awareness of mental illness, show support for those affected, and raise funds for NAMI organizations in South Dakota. You can partner in this effort by joining our walking team or by becoming a financial supporter of the cause.

All adults grieving the loss of a loved one are invited to this event at First Lutheran. A free breakfast will be served in the church’s Gathering Room at 9 a.m. while Jill Stoebner of Sad Isn’t Bad and Compassionate Care Hospice speaks to us on the topic of Grieving a Loss During the Holidays.
Lefse is a popular holiday treat enjoyed by many people of Scandinavian heritage. Come, learn to make your own lefse in this hands-on class. We will offer an easy to follow family recipe and how-to hints so that you can make lefse at home. All participants will have the opportunity to make some lefse for themselves.
First Lutheran Church is excited to offer a mini retreat intended to refresh and renew the souls of those who participate. We will study together the book of Ruth, reflecting on its rich themes of loyalty, faithfulness, integrity, friendship, and faith.
