Does God take chances? Run risks? Does He know what you are going to do before you do? Do we have free will, and does it matter? What about predestination? Do miracles happen today? And what makes an occurrence a miracle anyway? Is faith mainly belief? Trust? Is faith compatible with doubt? Does God pick winners in games of chance? How does God figure in the random mutations of evolutionary theory?
These are controversial issues on which Christians disagree. They will be explored in a three-week Fireside Forum series. LaMoyne Pederson, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Augustana University and long-time member of the FLC congregation, will offer comments and lead the discussion.
The class will meet on three Thursday evenings (October 18 and 25, and November 8) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Friendship Room. Come as you are able. Refreshments will be served.
