Acolyte:

Confirmands light the chancel candles, receive the offering, and assist in Baptism and Communion. They serve on a rotating basis. Training is provided. Contact: Debbie Garcia, 339-1983, ext. 34.
Usher:

Vocal Music Opportunities (click to view)
Carol Choir:

I would like more information
This dynamic choir of grades 1–4 meets on Saturday mornings from 10:15 am–12 pm to worship, rehearse hymns, play musical games and instruments, and do arts and crafts. The Carol Choir performs regularly on Sunday mornings. Each April they present an entire service by themselves. Contact: Bonnie Lindgren 332-6735.
Jubilant Singers (Grades 5-8):

This choir, made up of 5-8 graders, rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30–6:25 p.m. They normally sing two or three Sundays each month, and offer a musical in the winter or spring. Contact: Michael Elsbernd 339-1983 ext. 14.
FLYGHT (Grades 9-12):

This high school choir sings two or three Sundays each month, in addition to offering a musical or concert in the winter or spring. Rehearsals are from 6:30–7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Contact: Michael Elsbernd at 339-1983 ext. 14.
Adult Choir:

This choir of men and women sings three or four Sundays each month, at one or more of the morning services. They also participate in a Sunday or weekend sing-out in the spring. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:35–9:05 p.m. The choir performs a major choral work, either during Holy Week or in the spring. Contact: Michael Elsbernd at 339-1983 ext. 14.

Volunteers are given a one-day training in caregiving skills. Volunteers are then connected with caregivers to provide respite. Volunteers usually give 1-2 hour periods of respite to caregivers. Contact: Paula Bartels 339-1983 ext. 24
Elizabeth Ministry Mentor Mom:

I would like more information
Offers support to women of childbearing years. Volunteers are needed to mentor women who have experienced normal pregnancies and childbirth, difficult pregnancies, infants in NICU, miscarriage, still birth, loss of a child, infertility, and adoption. Women set up their own schedules to get together. Training is available for mentors. Opportunities are also available in clerical and organizational areas. Contact: Paula Bartels 339-1983 ext. 24
Friendly visitor to the homebound:

Helping Hands Volunteer (assistance to elderly):

Volunteers provide assistance with a variety of tasks to First Lutheran members who can’t afford to hire help or do it themselves. This includes limited yard work, small repair jobs, household tasks as well as rides to medical appointments. Contact: Linda Carpenter 339-1983 ext. 36.
Prayer Chains:

Over 100 people participate in phone or email prayer chains. The prayer chain is for both those who wish to have a prayer or would like to pray for others. Contact: Carol Knapp 339-1983 ext. 11
Prayer Shawls:

Prayer shawls are given for comfort, warmth and as an expression of God’s constant loving presence and care. Knitters pray as they knit each shawl. Contact: Char Peters 339-1983 ext. 22.
Special Needs Fellowship Volunteer:

This group for developmentally disabled adults meets four times per year for Bible study, music, food and fellowship. Volunteers help with activities, provide transportation, and serve treats. Contact: Carol Knapp 339-1983 ext.11
Stephen Ministry:

Meals from the Heart:

Meals from the Heart encompasses a hands-on mission of cooking, fellowship and hospitality. Volunteers meet monthly to prepare nutritious meals at the church. The meals are portioned in sustainable containers and than frozen until delivered by a First Lutheran member to anyone in need. The hospitality of a delivered meal symbolizes a message of Christ’s love and acceptance through the heart of caring service and our commonality of food.

Faithwalkers Teacher:

“Encouraging Children to be life-long servants of Christ on their baptismal journey of faith.” FaithWalkers is available on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for children beginning at age three (by September 1) through 5th grade. The FaithWalker program for grades 1-5 is called the “WoRM” which stands for Workshop Rotational Model. It is an engaging model of instruction that is flexible to teach and fun to learn. The Library Ministry offers print and visual resources for intellectual and spiritual growth for all ages. The library also joins and assists other ministries to present creative opportunities for worship, education, service, outreach and fellowship. Contact: Barbara Siebelts 339-1983 ext. 43
Nursery Volunteer:

First Lutheran offers a cooperative nursery for young children (up to age 3) during the Sunday worship services, and on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:45 pm. The nursery is also available for other church related events. Parents and other trained volunteers are encouraged to donate one hour per month. Contact: Debbie Garcia 339-1983 ext. 34.
