Bread for the World http://www.bread.org/ Bread for the World is a Christian citizens' movement to end hunger globally. First Lutheran members take part in regular letter writing campaigns to members of congress and take part in other lobbying and events involving hunger.
Companion Synod Programs Web site Companion Synod Programs connect the church with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope in Nicaragua and the Evangelical Church in Cameroon (Africa). ELCA World Hunger Web site ELCA World Hunger provides relief for hunger and local and global disasters and development programs through Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran World Federation. First Lutheran financially supports these efforts.
The LIZWAN Ministry was founded by ELCA pastors Natanael Lizarazo and Barbara Wangsness along with their daughter, Alicia. Though this ministry has significantly evolved since its inception in 1991, today the LIZWAN Ministry focuses on the following mission components:
• Formal education among poor families covering the spectrum from elementary to university • Christian leadership development as integral part of the formal education process • People-to-people mission relationships directly connected with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia and their most shared recent mission project “The Lutheran House of Encounters Emmaus.” • Bilingual communication and facilitation of mission relationships directly connected with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia.

Palestinian Lutheran Schools http://www.elcjhl.org/ Palestinian Lutheran Schools provide sponsorship of educational opportunities for five schools of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land as they seek to promote understanding, reconciliation and peace amidst war-torn communities. First Lutheran provides financial support.
