St. Dysmas provides worship and Holy Communion opportunities to inmates at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. First Lutheran provides both financial support for the congregation and has regular opportunities to worship with members of St. Dysmas.
Project CAR is a service providing free transportation for senior citizens and special needs adults involved in First Lutheran, First Congregational, St. John American Lutheran, Our Savior’s Lutheran, the Senior Companion Program and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.). The Stepping Into Good Health SIGH Clinic offers professional foot care, blood pressure screenings, and glucose and cholesterol screenings for people who are unable to pay for such services. Alpha is a non-denominational course that allows people to explore or deepen the Christian faith, build community and actively involve people in the lives of the church. First Lutheran regularly offers the Alpha Course.
The Food to You Mobile Food Pantry is sponsored as a service in the Sioux Falls area by Charis Ministry Partners, a non-profit organization of 13 local congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church is America. Food to You provides a supplement to existing food assistance in the Sioux Falls area in order to decrease hunger and poverty through greater availability of food and household items. Food to You Mobile Food Pantry distributes food each Thursday at a different site. First Lutheran Church serves as one of the thirteen congregations supporting this ministry financially and volunteers for two to three distributions per year.
Augustana College Endowment Fund makes possible the development of gifted Christian leaders for church and society within an environment of Christian education, academic excellence and service oriented vocations. First Lutheran financially supports this fund.
Bowden Youth Center is a safe meeting place for kids in the downtown area. An alternative to gangs, drugs and alcohol. First Lutheran provides financial support and volunteers for center activities.
Shetek Lutheran Ministries is a Bible camp owned by congregations of the Evangelical Church in America. First Lutheran both sends young people to programs and provides financial support for the camp.
Lutherans Outdoors of South Dakota offers year-round camping, outdoor opportunities and retreats at five separate locations throughout the state. First Lutheran members use the camp programs and the church also provides financial support.
The Community Outreach is an ecumenical ministry that provides basic services such as rental assistance and referral services to the working poor in the Sioux Falls community. First Lutheran helped found and financially supports this ministry.
Family Connection provides temporary shelter, emergency supplies, services and support to the families of inmates at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. First Lutheran provides financial support.

Feeding South Dakota distribute donated, purchased and reclaimed food to over 500 nonprofit charitable organizations, in all 66 counties of South Dakota, who provide meals and emergency food boxes to those in need. First Lutheran collects non-perishable items that are distributed through the Food Service Center in downtown Sioux Falls.
Translators of Cultures is dedicated to ensuring the success of the small but growing immigrant and refugee population in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In concert with the school system, our dynamic programs provide support for and create understanding between students, parents and educators. Their most recent partnership with First Lutheran is a memory brick garden that tells stories of immigrants, veterans and refugees.
