First Lutheran offers members an array of opportunities to participate in worship and further the gospel through sacrament, word, and song.

Worship Participation
Acolytes confirmands light the chancel candles, receive the offering, and assist in Baptism and Communion. They serve on a rotating basis. Training is provided. Contact: Debbie Garcia, 339-1983, ext. 34.

Cantors assist the pastors in the worship services, cantors lead the congregation in singing of the liturgy and the psalms at both the Sunday and Saturday Vespers services. They serve on a rotating basis. Training is provided. Contact: Shirley Barlow 339-1983 ext. 35.

Communion Assistants aid the pastors in the distribution of Communion for the Saturday Vespers and Sunday worship services. They serve on a rotating basis. Contact: Jan Everetts 332-6524.

Ushers provide a warm welcome to worshippers, assist in orderly seating, gather the offering and direct worshippers in celebrating the sacraments. They serve on a rotating basis. Contact: Shirley Barlow 339-1983 ext. 35.

Lectors read the scripture lessons during Saturday vespers and Sunday worship services. Contact: Shirley Barlow 339-1983 ext. 35.

Altar Guild members wash communion ware following Sunday morning and Saturday Vespers communion services. Teams are assigned for one month twice a year. Contact: Shirley Barlow 339-1983 ext. 35.

Music Shepherds for Carol Choir or Jubilant Singers are parents who help oversee the choirs as they wait in the hallways before singing on the Sundays in which the groups perform.
